Mt. Thompson Campsite

The Creston Community Forest took over the management and maintenance of the Mt. Thompson campsite in 2019 from Recreation Sites and Trails BC.  The site was cleaned up and two new picnic tables and a fire ring were installed (supplied by Recreation Sites and Trail BC).  A pit toilet was installed next to the campsite in the spring of 2020. The site can be found just off of the West side of Mt. Thompson’s peak in a small clump of trees. The site offers incredible views of the Creston Valley, doubling as the trail head for the Rim Trail and the ending point of the West Ridge Trail. The campsite is available on a first come first serve basis and firewood is provided (we recommend that you bring an axe or hatchet to split the wood).  Please help us to maintain the site by observing a few basic rules:

  • Do not litter; pack out all garbage
  • Do not cut live trees or dead snags
  • Do not gather downed woody debris
  • Build fires only in fire ring with provided firewood or bring your own
  • Make sure campfire is out before leaving
  • Place tent only in designated area

If you have any issues or concerns with the campsite, please call the Community Forest at 250-402-0070.
