The Creston Community Forest (CCF) is a small forest management company operating within over 21,000 hectares of land surrounding the Creston Valley, including four major community watersheds. CCF is run by a board of directors comprised of ten community members, five of whom are representatives of the company's shareholders (The Erickson Community Association, Trails for Creston Valley Society, the Regional District of Central Kootenay, the Town of Creston and Wildsight). It is our job not only to extract the timber resources from the land, but also to ensure the protection of it. This includes developing management strategies specific to each individual area, preserving important natural resources, carrying out harvest operations with the lowest impact possible and ensuring new, healthy growth, so that timber supply will be available for generations to come. As stewards of these lands we place high priority on non-timber values, taking an ecosystem based approach to our harvesting and reforestation practices.
This website provides information about the land we are privileged to operate in and the way we have chosen to do so. In addition you will find information on other projects we have been working on to give back to the community that supports us.
